Meet Jolene, my latest paper guitar, inspired by Dolly’s unforgettable hit song.
As a Nashville girl, I usually lean toward Gibson nods in my guitars, but Jolene had to be another woman, so this time I gave her a vintage Gretsch vibe instead.
She carries a little old and a little new: built from a nautical map of the Caribbean, bits of contemporary magazines, and pages from a Restoration Hardware catalog. Her charcoal background is layered with old musical dictionary pages and hand-engraved with a scallop pattern. Silver and brass hardware bring her all together with a subtle shine.
