The Southern 4501 is a paper version of the original, recreated out of ink stained blueprints. The Southern Railway 4501 is a 1911 Baldwin-built 2-8-2 “Mikado” steam locomotive, famous as the first of its kind for Southern Railway. After retirement, it became a cornerstone of the American steam excursion movement, hauling countless passenger trips and preserving the romance of rail travel in the South.
This paper train is 8.5”x19” floated over beige linen and placed in a 13”x24” black and gold wooden frame.
